Default Rendering is very slow

Im using Studio Ultimate 11.1. Im playing with the program. I have a 2 minute clip that Im testing some features out on. I have a couple special effects on the clip, about a 30 second picture-in-picture clip and a menu with three chapters. It's been rendering very slowly now for the last 15 minutes. This is only a 2 minute video clip. By rendering I mean where the green bar turns orange. Its been doing this for 15 minutes and its only about halfway done.

My computer specs are:
2.8gighertz, 1024megs of ram, about 200 gigs of hard drive space available, hard drive: 7200 rpm w/8megs cache.

I was playing earlier today with another video clip that didnt have any special effects and it didnt take nearly this long.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Nick

Default

Rendering takes time - end of.

My longest is somethnig like 8 hours for 1 minute, but that was very complex - lots of masking, tracks (26 i think) and loads of fx.

Some effects are very processor intensive - the more you use the longer rendering will take.
