Help AUDIO cracks on timeline

I am editing a concert with music in the background from the performance (not added). Its fine on the tape but when I put it on the timeline - crackles and stutters. HELP what can I do. I have re-captured it. Same problem again. It appears on the DVD also. I am desperate. Zan.
