Scenewon yes i have been contacted now, yesterday actually. I have not had the time to read all the terms and conditions yet.
Just to inform you as you are new here, nearly everyday there is a post for "Win 6000/1000/5000£/$/euros" here. Nearly all ask you to submit a film which takes alot of you time to create and sometimes money, then you post it to the site and lose all rights over the film that you have just created. ie if it receives any money outside of prize money "Win blah blah" you don't even recieve a penny.
THIS IS WHY PEOPLE ARE CYNICAL. Would you want to film something then sit infront of a computer for weeks then upload and just give away any future profits!!!
I will read the terms and conditions this weekend and let you know if this is the real deal or not.

ok mate totally understand. all the charity that sponsored me want is to be able to show the films to raise awareness. Thats how i get the cash in the first place as a break even deal if i am lucky. anyway thanks for clarity. I have my terms and conditions as standard download form online legal company.
i'm new to this but as a filmmaker myself i just wanted a way to try and get something going as i have struggled to fund short films myself.
anyway good luck whether you choose to enter or not. Understand your fears and am not looking to exploit anyone. Just thought rather than give good stuff away on other sites maybe i could come up with a large enough prize to interest people and the ability to win money by reviewing (to encorage discussion on important subjects)

Raise awaremeness? Hardly - you would have to be dead to be unaware of the current eco fashion / hysteria. Hows that for cynical !
It also seems odd to have chariteee supported by celebs and pop gods who are clearly better than us aimed at reducing carbon emissions. I presume these would be tha same celebs who live in big houses, fly lots, travel lots and generally lead lives of excessive consumption? What a joke.

I would recommend that videomakers avoid this "competition".
The terms and conditions specify "when submitting your Contribution to us, you hereby grant us a licence to use, store, copy, modify, adapt, create derivate works from, publish, broadcast, transmit, perform, play, make available to the public and distribute your Contribution (in whole or in part, whether in return for payment or otherwise) in any form and via any medium, and to publicise your Contribution in such manner as we think fit.
The licence which you grant to us is non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, perpetual, transferable and sub licenseable to others (with the ability for us to grant our sub licensees the right to further sub license). This means that we can exercise our rights globally (over the Internet or otherwise) without any obligation to make payment to you"
This is NOT acceptable. Granting someone such a blanket permission is stupid and I wouldn't touch any "competition" with such a condition, with a bargepole.
Don't give us this "I'm only doing what the others do" crap. This is NOT good practice and no serious, respectable competition has such a clause for submissions.
Simple enough?

0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | lst time trying to convince you...
...the site is being built ready for the launch on April 2. Without this we can not launch with content.
ALL info will be on the site but the only way to run like this is to send an FAQ when people register, although now i will add it in the interim in case people are troubled by this. It seems the level of cynisism is even more than i expected.
anyway good luck all. getting bucketloads of registrations so please choose to do as you wish

Looking at the clause again, I can see no reason to alter my opinion.
The clause (which I've quoted above) is outrageous. Giving up all rights to a production just by entering a competition (not just the winners, all entrants give up their rights) is simply not acceptable. In view of that I'll also be passing on the details of your competition to my union. In view of the somewhat vague and ambiguous claims of "global cool", being looked at critically by the UK's biggest media union is probably not something they'll embrace.
Edit: Or you can lose that clause "stealing" all rights to the entries and promise to pay for any material which is used...
Your choice.
