As the Guru has ranted at you already i will go easy. This did annoy me for the same reasons as the Guru. Its people like you posting this kind of stupid post that make my job more difficult. I have to compete with all the cowboys and students doing a half arsed job thus bringing standards down thus making it difficult to justify the industry standard rates.

Its disgusting! Your budgets should be calculated to do the job properly. If you were buying a car or having a car made would you be content with a bunch of amateures making it? No you wouldn't So why do you expect a better result in video?

If i were you I'd either scrap the video completely as if you use amatures or students it will be carp (unless by the grace of God you happen upon a very very talented student)

Alternatively - Re-access your budget and get more cash flow injected into the project so you can afford to do everything properly.

Our roads are full of clapped out old bangers because not everyone has the budget to afford a decent car. That;s not to say people shouldn't have a car just because it's not quite as good as a brand new one.

Equally not every project manager has the budget they'd like and have to make those budget stretch as far as possible. That's not to say the shouldn't be able to do all the things they want, just that corners have to be cut. But there's a risk...

Bottom line: you get what you pay for. You take an enormous risk in hiring people prepared to work for low amounts and the end result could devalue the entire project and jeapordise your ability to attract investment in the future. It is therefore worth asking yourself if you are prepared to take this risk.

There will always be someone willing to work at rock bottom prices, but they quote these prices because they're competing on price, not the standard of their work. It depends on how much you value your reputation.
