buying new pc. need to start editing dv, might do some 3d. have no idea what motherboard specs required, or which is best. think i might buy a socket 939 cpu. do i need sli? please help!

Any modern PC will edit DV the main things to remember, fast proccessor (not Celeron or sempron), much ram, decent graphics card(not top end just decent) and a second large HDD for capture.

Good advice, almost any decent modern pc is fine. You only really need the best and fastest for hdv work imho. I did lots of editing 3 or 4 years ago starting on an xp1700 and it was fine.
