Default Perfect quality? no prob! too much time? prob!!

well, i have made couple of videos and many times when i go up to 10 layers, the preview lags, and the rendering also takes crap load of time. I know this is relative to processor speed and video memory and all that.

but what aspect of processor and video card should you PARTICULARLY look at to decide wether it is good for rendering? (of course people recommend quadro costing 2000 dollar, but money is a practical thing too.)
