Oh Luke, you'll get me going... Are you talknig h ware or os?
Sure they look well made but I think that is a marketing ploy. Mac actually style the inside of their product, everyone must have seen the guts of the big mac (!) on display in departmenmt stores, it's an old car showroom tactic. I think they have created an air of well builtness. My PC is held together with vinegar and brown paper and it's fine. Who cares whats inside?
As for the os, oh pleeease, I got 6 drives, a tv card, a ubs card, a fire card, 2 g card and as I speak 30 apps are running on 5 screens and I only get a crash about once every three months. XP is stable, so of course is os 10. I honestly dont know a person with a mac who has managed to self build their own bespoke computer like I have.
The main thing is that whatever you buy should meet your needs. For me that just happens to mean PC.

I am saying that from experience not from marketing. My uncles laptop running FCP has never crashed on me. Although premier has. I have to admit at the moment I prefer windows although when I get the chance to (When vista comes out as I will have to buy a whole new computer then any way) I will upgrade to mac. I am to friendly to curse your computer .

Oh no 'trembles'. To be fair the computer had been on 24/7 for at least a week.
Luke, if I say macs are lovely and I wish I was one would you lift your curse ?

Hi there,
i'm new to this posting malarky (well... this is my first post!) but this thread intrests me - i'm looking to set up a small side business making films for and about local artists, and really its about time i moved on from my little pinaccle studio 9 system that i've got (and while i love it, it has done nothing but drive me insane). Back at college we used G5 Macs running avid, and i'm looking at spending a fortune (if only i had that fortune) on a similar set up... unless anyone can convince me that i'd be better of with a PC?
but man... just look at them new maccy things... mmm... (dribbles)

Nealry all computers are reliable enough nowadays. All this mac pc thing is just arguing for pleasure. They will both do most things equally well.
However, having said that I dont think the mac offers the user anything extra for the extra cost of the platform. But that is irrelevant to those that want one of course, and i mean no disrespect by that, it's just personal choice.
edit
Just read that back, I sound almost reasnoble there, better watch out, macs are for hairdressers, there I feel better now !
