Default Video Editing Laptop. Please Help!!!

Hello everyone. I'm giving my PC to my mother and I need a laptop, for school. Well I'm also into sports and have a lot of video that I want to edit. I' m just getting into it right now so I know nothing. What are your recomendations on for a good Laptop I can get that will give me a good video product?

Look for a minimum of 1.8 GHz, 512 DDRAM, 60 GB HDD (you will need an external hard drive for storage anyway), firewire. S-Video out is a plus.
I think it will fit your budget.

Bius people make bius comments when it comes to apple
i hear apple is great for all sorts of editing but i dont really know why and no one has ever convinced me eather. the key to video editing is knowing the software you use. i think pc have a lot more variety to choose from when it comes to hardware updates as well as software. apples are nice because they offer something different but they are pricey and considering a pc to an apple you can buy so much more for the same price. when looking in to laptops try to buy something with a decent lcd size
