from Tom's Hardware, the X2 chips outperform every chip in terms of multitasking abilities. in terms of running one program straight up obviously a single core chip will always outperform a dual core chip. think of it as this:

AMD X2's are better at juggling.
Intel single core chips are better at focusing at one thing at a time.

it's up to you. i just know that dual core is the thing of the future, and more and more applications will be optimized for it so i decided to go AMD dual core.

of course, i already have a P4 chip on my everyday PC (2.4 gig). figured might as well have one of each.

that is exactly the problem, dont mock me as to say i am a dumbass. System resources go through the rough when he is exporting, and his processor gets taxed out, and then the video starts to chop up completely, and drops frames!

Rendering programs use multiple cores though... so you get a benefit for using dual cores.

After quite a bit of review, it seems like if you're going to buy a video-editing card, go with intel. If not, go with AMD.

I tried really hard to find a system that I could get with a video-editing card that was halfway cheap, but I couldn't do it... so I've got an Opteron 165 on the way with all sorts of goodies along with it.
