Default Looking for a Laptop

Hi, i am looking to buy a laptop to record or edit video or sound. I don't know what to get and i have a budget of around £600. i am looking for new or old. I have looked on ebay but i don't know what spec i am looking for. Is it right to look for a fast CPU like 3Ghz and 1GB ram? i am not looking to build it as i don't have the time. Thanks and i am welcoming all suggestions. Thanks
