Yeah, that's great too. Mentioned above that Asus are my first choice. That's a rock solid board too. If I was choosing, I'd go for the Asus over the Gigabyte, but that's only really down to personal preference rather than the gigabyte being a bad board.

WOHOO! The Asus A8N SLI - Deluxe is the board on my main system.
It is a fantastic choice and is a very very solid platform.

The raid functions of the board are fantastic you can have a max of 12 Hard drisks on this board. This is due to the 8 sata ports and the standard IDE ports. You can even use raid on the standard ide ports.

The dual channel ddr works great and really streamlines the ram.

It seems to have everything on board: dual eathernet, firewire, USB2 etc and they all work stunningly well.

The only prob I've had with this board was the chipset fan failed but Asus replaced it and then changed the chipset fan on all the noards. So not a prob anymore.

I would highly no REALLY HIGHLY recommend the Asus A8N SLI - Deluxe board as a platform.

I searched and searched for decent MOBO's to find summat that could really handle video editing and this one was the only one that really gave me confidence.

I hate you.

(might be worth finding out what brand of memory it is - would be a shame to have such a kick-ass system with cacky RAM)

why is that? 2 x 1 gig will still work in dual channel... why would you want to go quadro-channel ?

spreading the load over all 4 strips will allow full ram optimization. - These boards are designed to run better if you are using all the strips. - I dunno the full tech reasons why but a tech head mate of mine gave me thr run down on it. - Was all a bit of a head fuck for me though.
