That's an interesting question. I just bought an external 250GB USB2.0 7200rpm drive (£99 from Amazon): I wonder how well capturing video to it will work? I know that capturing from the camera via USB is a no-no, but if you put a processor and loads of memory in between firewire in and USB out, I wonder what happens? I'll try to remember to give it a go and report back.

SVHS: per que? Premiere may not like USB in, but surely it doesn't care what kind of disk it captures to?

Well I'm all thumbs in Premiere (and since I discovered Studio and AvidFreeDV I've quite trying to figure it out) but from what I know Premiere can't capture to external hard drives. I might be wrong though.

Close but no cigar! the rule with premiere is that Adobe (at last count) simply do nto support external storage of any kind for video editing. This included networked drives last time I looked also.

I strongly suspectthis rule-of-thumb dates back to when external drives could not keep up. Needless to say, they're much better these days. I suspect you would have no problems with an extrenal drive nowdays but don't phone Adobe forhelp if you use one.

Interesting. I may try it anyway. Not that I doubt either of you, of course...
