I use Ulead Mediastudio Pro 7. It's very user friendly and now has HD plugins. Check it out at www.ulead.com. I was told that Adobe Premiere has quite a learning curve to it. have you used it yet?

Well, if money is no object as it seems not to be then I suggest you buy all of them and then simply decide which one you like best after spending some time with each one.

If you really want to become familiar with Avid (because that's what the pro's use, whatever) you don't have to pay a dime - just download the Avid FreeDV (a stripped down version of Avid XpressDV, fully freeware) from www.avid.com/freeav. Good luck!
