One more thing:

Be careful in buying from stock manufacturers as sometimes you are unable to upgrade easily if needs be. I had this experience with Compaq and a Dell unit over the years.

It's true that alienware do mainly aim all their systems at gamers but it is more than easy enough to configure a system that is more than worthy for video editing. THey even have their own range for video editing, design and audio recording. Apparently my system has shipped so I'll be in here some time next week to tell everyone what it's like.

Ok I got my Alienware a few weeks ago and it's amazing. Here is my spec first:

Aurora 5500:

Microsoft XP
AMD Athlon™ 64 3200+
1GB Alienware® Dual Channel Low-Latency DDR PC-3200 at 400MHz - 2 x 512MB
ATI® Radeon® X300 PCX 128MB DDR w/Digital and TV Out
200 GB Western Digital Caviar SE Serial ATA 7,200 rpm w/ 8MB Cache x 2
160 GB Seagate Barracuda Serial ATA 7,200 rpm w/ 8MB Cache
NEC® ND-3520 16x Dual Layer DVD±R/W Recorder
Creative Sound Blaster® Audigy 2 ZS - 7.1

This computer is great for video editing, sound recording, cgi, gaming and just about anything you throw at it. I also have a crazy amount of hard drive space so I don't think I'm ever going to fill this thing up I'd recommend one to anyone wanting a powerful computer for use of anything that involves a higher than standard computer such as editing etc. I've never had any problems with it at all in the past few weeks and the quality is just amazing!

I remember saying that when I bought my 40GB Hard drive a couple of years ago!

(cue people saying, I remember a 10GB/6GB/2GB/1GB/500MB etc etc turning into the Monty Python Yorkshireman sketch)
