Digital8 camcorders connect to the PC through firewire so:

if it's got a firewire port on it, then yes,
if not, then no.

You'll also need to get a firewire cable to connect the cam' to the PC as you'll probably just have been supplied with a USB cable, DO NOT use this as it's crap for video-transfer.

You will only need the analogue capture if you plan to capture from other sources as well as your digital 8 camera, if not, then you'd probably be better off buying a much cheaper PCI firewire card which will do the same job.

I'm not sure about the Pinnacle AV/DV 9 specifically, but it's more than you need for just capturing from your camera.

I have that graphics card, just buy a fire wire card also (6 quid?) works perfect, many options on the card for setting 2 monitors etc!

I have a Pinnacle Studio AV/DV 9, it works great, both input and output are high quality (thanks to a dedicated circuitry Pinnacle developped), it's the best cost-effective decision both for analog and digital camcorders.
