Default Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Is magic. It's so smooth, it's relatively stable, it's just generally lovely.

If anyone wants to ask any questions, go for it, but i've got one of my own.

Has anyone used an app that will extract the audio and video from the DVR-MS wrapper file that MCE records to? There appear to be apps available, but they definitely don't work for me, and they're quite old, so it looks like they're incompatible with MCE2005. Nerovision express will open them, but it's AWFUL for editing, and it doesn't seem to be able to convert to anything useful, only dvd/svcd/vcd, where i want to be able to convert to xvid, in one step. I've tried mucking about with graphedit, but it's a black art apparently. I'll keep searching, but this is really starting to piss me off now.

I had success with FlaskMPEG after scratching me head for ages with MicroMV. Perhaps it will be your friend too?

Fancy writing a guide for digital-director?

Yep, just an encoder, but it will probably let you extract the audio.

Nah, didn't help at all, but i got it working with a filter that arcsoft showbiz 2 installed. AS2 apparently supports DVR-MS, but won't encode to any format that's useful to me.

Got it all working now, so i guess i should knock up a guide and stuff.
