Default AVi --> MPEG Problems

Hi,

I'm a complete newbie to this so forgive me guys.

Anyway, I have downloaded some trial software for converting AVI to MPEG but whenever I click convert, I get an error message saying that the file has been damaged or corrupt.

I can play the files fine on my computer but cannot convert them. This happens on every converter program I try.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Thanks for yoru time
