Default Lotsa advice needed

On used camera ads, I frequently see clasifieds that state that the cam was not engaged during editing, that a docking station was used to minimize wear and tear. What is an example of this device?
Thanks![/b]

You can use the camcorder to output a signal during editing to your TV. This would cause hardly any "wear and tear". The only real mechanical wear and tear that would be inflicted on a camcorder would be through the use of the tape mechanism (fast forwarding, rewinding, playing etc). You can buy seperate DV tape decks, but these typical cost as much as a camcorder itself (depending on the cost of your camcorder, of course). Me thinks this is just one of those, "it's almost brand new gov'ner, honest" ploys. Never really seen the point of saying that myself.
