Default Upgrade: Questions!

Hello folks, great forum!

For the last 4-5 years I've been editing on a Pentium 4 3.4ghz rig (ASUS P5AD2-E Premium mobo, 3GB of Ultra 533mhz RAM, Radeon X850 video card, lots of HDD space!) and its been an absolute beast. In January of this year I purchased two Canon HV30s for the move to HD.

I've nearly always relied on Pinnacle Studio 9 (yes, 9!) and also 12. But I knew I had to step it up to get the full use of my HD footage. So obviously it was time to build a new rig.

The specs of the new one are in my signature here. I'm also upgrading to Sony Vegas Pro 9.

Can anyone tell me what differences I'll see in editing/rendering performance? The specs between the two builds are so far apart I cannot fathom it. I won't start using the new PC until all the parts trickle in via UPS...so about another week.

Any feedback on the rig or what to expect in workflow with Vegas?

Thanks!

MG

Well that new rig will pummel your old P4 to a pulp. You can't really compare them
