Default WOW - The CMX 600 - the first ever NLE

This is where it all started.

If you had a spare $250,000 and space for a dec PDP11 ( 16 k ram!) and a room for several washing machine sized disc packs ( 4.5 min video per washing machine) you could be the proud owner of a NLE system.

Check out the link and the video link - now I really appreciate vegas!

CMX 600

My dad's company had one of those disk drive units and "washing machine" is about right. The disk seriously resembled a dustbin lid until you pulled it out (rotated it to unlock, with a big THUNK) and you could see that it was a bit deeper. The one in the picture looks like they have made it even deeper than ours was.
