I dont want to switch over to a mac so whats the best kind of pc for editing video? the last computer I had was a cheap desktop that couldnt edit video and now I have a laptop that doesnt quite have the strength either.

what are the specifications I should look for when buying a computer to edit video on? or are macs really the only computers that can really handle serious video editing?

I'm not getting into the PC versus Mac debate, it's been done to death here and elsewhere but if you could give some more details about what you want to do with the video, is it standard def or hi def you want to work with, do you want to connect up a mini dv cam, HDD, mini DVD or some other format? Do you want the latest software for just editing, do you want to do special effects, work with audio? And I suppose the most important question is, how much do you want to spend?
