Default Needs Advise

I am planning to buy a new Computer:
HP PAVIILION A1709 AMD X2 2.4 2GB RAM 250GB HHD WITH NVIDIA GRAPHIC CARD
For my video editing. The dealer tries to tell me that this is a right machine for video work, but I am used to intel processors. Still one of my friends tells me that AMD processors aren't good.
Can anyone who knows this machine advise me on this?
Thanks for a help.

Personaly I prefer AMD. The only catch is to make sure the processor is the newer release that has SSE2. otherwise some programs won't work like After effects CS3 or Premiere Pro 2 and CS3. After effects 7 pro will work with out SSE2. You'll find AMD vs. Intel and the ATI vs. Invida battles all the time, both are good.
