Default Amiga 3000

Your video editing dream machine!
The Amiga 3000

The specs are:
  • a Motorola 68030 processor at either 16 MHz or 25 MHz (The 16 MHz models were discontinued soon after).
  • 2 MB of memory (configured as 1 MB chip RAM and 1 MB 32bit Fast RAM), expandable to a total of 18 MB onboard.
  • a 68881 or 68882 FPU coprocessor (The 16 MHz model shipped with a 68881, the 25 MHz model with a 68882)
  • the ECS chipset.
  • a SCSI interface and a Quantum LPS40S (40 MB), LPS52S (50 MB) or LPS105S (100 MB) 3.5" Hard Drive.
  • a built-in 'flicker fixer' which enabled the use of a VGA monitor.
That and with lightwave installed for 3D animation the possibilities are engless...

Hey, if it was good enough for Babylon 5, it can be good enough for anything.

Sorry to be picky but B5 was rendred on a farm of amgia 2000s (24 ) with 040 acellerator cards and video toasters.

After the first series it was dec alphas and pentiums.

I dont think any of us will be going over to an amiga anytime soon - although it was a fine machine - I still fire up my 1200 now and again just for laughs, I remember that 170 meg(!) hard drive cost me 350 quid !

Haha yes. I mostly posted this for nostalgia purposes. I recently grabbed a hold of my old VHS camcorder and decided, you know what? lets just edit it on an amiga.

I totally agree with you.

I actually use a Core 2 Duo
4 gigs of ram
800 gig HDD
with a 256mb GeForce 7600

With 3D Studio MAX and MAYA linked via render farm up to about 10 other computer of a slightly lesser gauge.

Still got my old Amiga 500 in the loft - 1Mb RAM, 2 floppy drives, NO hard drive !

Don't think it'll run Premiere Pro CS3, so it will stay in the loft !

Clunky now - cutting edge back then - I do miss those 'guru meditation' messages.
