Does anyone know anything about the compatibilty with external firewire drives being used between mac's and pc's?

According to apple the recent versions of OSX have greater NTFS support, it's tricky trying to find confirmed information on how much support.

I've found that OSX has read only support for external ntfs firewire drives. When I first installed a dual boot of Ubuntu Linux on my PC it had read only support of my windows NTFS drives/partitions. With this I could copy from the NTFS drive on to the lINUX drive, but not vice versa.

If this is the same as OSX's extent of NTFS support it would be fine, if it functioned fully as it does with a windows pased PC then all the better.

Anyone know anything about this?
