Seriously though, Premier and vegas are both very good, its a matter of what you are comfortible with.

You'll want the full verison of Vegas+dvd production, the studio version is the lite hobby, home movie version with watered down features.

this thread is getting at what is best for a particular user.
Premier and Vegas (i use both) are so closley matched its impossible to tell which is technically better. As a professional i could not tell you which one best, Certain features are easier to use in the diffrent applications but again i say this from an opinion.

If you are a beginner or at an enrty level of editing then i would sway ever so slightly to Vegas. From my knowledge of it and talking to people taking it up I'd say its the slightly easier one to learn of the two. However Premier has the added workflow features with other adobe applications.

For every pro there is a con and vice versa in both applications - i'd take Alan's advice - download both the trials and play with them yourself. - You'll soon find yourself preferring one.

Thanks guys, I'm a noob so I appreciate which one is better for beginners,
I'm still playing around with sony vegas studio, but will most likely buy the
$500 version or whatever.
