Default Sony Vaio PC's

Hello. When i leave school this year i am hoping to go on a course in a local college where there is alot of film making and video editing involved. I decided that i would like my own PC to edit video on and record audio using audio software(which i already have). I aint exactly looking for proffesional standard but something decent enough to use programs such as Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio. I recently found the Sony Vaio pc's (RS and RZ series) while browsing their site and they seem to have the perfect spec for me. Should I consider buying one or should take a look at something else, like a Mac or something?

not familiar with those PC but any modern PC will do the trick really.

Just remember to add at least 512Mb or RAM and as much disk space as possible. 5 Mins of raw video footage is 1Gb of disk space, before you do anythign with it.

I'd say that the Vaios are overpriced your paying for Sony, hunt around for a better deal - anything with a CPU above 2GHz and at least 512Mb ram should do ya, obviously the faster the better.

Oh and you'll want a firewire card if you plan to capture from a mini DV camera.

tonga

time to give my becoming-classic advice:

Build it yourself! It's cheap, easy, and fun.

Oh yeah, and if you're building a comp for premiere (even though I'd get Vegas instead) get a gig of ram and an Intel Pentium 4 "C" the one with "Hyper-Threading"

Have fun.

Im new, but not afraid to assert my pc knowhow....

Dont Buy a Damn Vaio!!!!!!

For Gods sake, dont buy anything that can be bought from a chain.

My Advice, if u dont wanna build ur own,

Go to a locallyowned computer store and have them build you one

or make an offer on mine

what the hell?

Ok, that's a bit too much ram. I mean ram is nice and all, but over 2GB is just ridiculous.

Why the hell do you need two DVD burners?

Why the FUCKING hell do you want two Radeon 9600's? You should even get one if you're serious about DV. but even then, what's the point of two and how are you going to put them in your computer?

Please tell me you have RAID

why do you need a firewire card? Does your motherboard not have integrated firewire?

btw, P4OCER is a fellow overclocker from www.overclocking.com

we're both vets from back there
