2 DVD writers
2x ATI radeon 9600
3x 160gb 7200rpm HDD
firewire/USB card
TV card
surround sound speakers

THe 9600 has two video outputs (one digital, one analog), so no need for two

also, i dont think ne mobos have dual agp

Opertrons wpuld be better

All dual cpu and excessive amounts of ram should be used on linux machines,as windoze doesnt utilize it very well

As the man says, that would only be possible if you had 2 x AGP slots - not sure if this is available on any mobo, but I've never seen it. A more likely scenario would be to use the dual head capability of the card. If you did want two cards, you'd have to go down the 1 x PCI plus 1 x AGP card route. But as I say, given that virtually all mid-range (and even some low end onboard VGA) come with dual heads, one card is "the way".

Now if you REALLY want to go the whole video editing hog, you'd get a Matrox card specialising in 2D graphics with 3/4 heads. That way you can make use of 2 x LCDs plus the TV out all at the same time.

And give the second card to me

I use 2 monitors!!!

You only need a gpu w/ 2 ports

MY 9800Pro Has an analog/dvi combo, and most videocards nowadays have the same setup

Yep, you'd be hard pushed to find a card without dual head . 1 x Digital, 1 x analogue is the norm. Actually, for my little Mega PC build I had to find a card where the Digital connection was at the bottom so that I could fit the little sod in (my old dual DVI refused to go in). Then ended up taking the card out and putting it my main rig cos I didn't like the heat build up.... and only plan wacthing video and playing music.

...so now I have a spare dual DVI Asus VS9280

If only you had the 2.5k eh? It's probably about time I played the "what could I spec for x pounds" game

Here was my last stab when Millsy was looking for a new PC a few months back:

Nice. I agree. even though home built computers are about a third as expensive as branded ones they can still cost a lot (with 4 gigs Ram, hehe).

I'm not sure about the VGA...Personally I would get a 9800Pro so this could be used for gaming...
