| | VIVO CARD
Marc
Will a VIVO Card such as the Geforce 4 MX440, 8X, 128mb with VIVO do for video capturing purposes?
I plan to work with Sony Vegas, Liquid Edition, Premiere, and Studio 9. How should i capture videos USING the VIVO card for it to work with the programs stated.
One more thing, does a VIVO card have an analog audio/video IN or is the audio in coming from the motherboard?
Thanks dude.

Providing the rest of your PC is up to scratch, a VIVO card will suffice for analogue capture. All you need to do to capture with Premiere et al is to install the relevant drivers. I may be COMPLETELY wrong on this, but I don't believe Premiere supports analogue capture any longer - at least I can't seem to find an option! Additionally, Vegas only allows uncompressed capture, so you'll need a few terrabytes of hard disk space LOL
The best way to capture would be to use iuvcr with the "tweaked" WDM drivers.
And you have to use a seperate audio in connection to your soundcard/on board sound.

The only time you need to synchronize your CPU and RAM clocks is when you're using a short-pipeline CPU like the Athlon XP.
Trust me, I build PCs.

Mark- is Sonic DVDit worth the $300 chunk out of my bank account? I need a good solid DVD authorer (sp?) ...i havnt found any "this is better than that" online with DVD making programs, hence you find them everywhere with editing programs.

I've NEVER had any problems with it - unlike cheaper applications where the sound has gone out of synch or my encoded video hadn't been accepted. Is it worth the money? On the grand scheme of things, probably not! Adobe Encore is more expensive again, but has had some rave reviews - but then so have the less expensive authoring applications.
Given that most DVD authoring software have trials, I'd take advantage of those before you buy. It's about time I did some reviews of these (I have loads of trials waiting to be installed on my machine), so watch this space!

I got the trail for Encore, and worked with it for about two hours straight, and still couldn't get it to do anything... I'm sort of new with DVD Authoring and such, if someone could give me a Guide to Encore that would be GREAATTLLY appriciated... I cant find a book on Encore at Barns and Noble (Huge book store, idunno if you have them overseas) but i usually bring a notebook and grab a book guide to a program, and copy everything out of there... its not against the law.... right?
