  1. I have a number of Hi8 cassettes I recorded over the years on my old and now defunct SONY Hi8 VCR Handycam.
My intention was to transfer my old Hi8 recordings (sound & video) onto my PC simply by playing them through my later and now owned SONY DCR-TRV480E Digital 8 Handycam and capture the analogue output using Pinnacle Studio plus version 10 editing software.

While new digital recordings could be captured the older analogue recordings failed to show any vision or sound.
I found the above version of Pinnacle less than easy and I lost count of the number of times I needed to reinstall. I finally removed the software from my PC and shelved it!

I wondered if I purchased an old Hi8 analogue camcorder if this might achieve a transfer but what hardware/software might I need? Adobe Elements Premier version 4.0 looks good but I believe it cannot accommodate analogue capture.

I would be grateful for any advice on how I might achieve the analogue transfer and of a suitable editing package.

    Many thanks
