Default On the subject of Royalties ...

... with the theme for Chariots of Fire being played at every medal presentation, is Vangelis single-handedly going to dig Greece out of its financial crisis?
Marc Peters and Midnight Blue like this.

I too wondered that - with the rights being based on listener numbers, that's serious money isn't it? Even better than the man who wrote the countdown music!

OT but have you noticed that "Happy Birthday to You" is now being hit hard in the copyright stakes - the BBC behind the scenes programme on Iron Maiden featured somebodies birthday and at the end, in the middle of the credits the song was credited - I thought it a false rumour - but it does appear it IS subject to copyright - as the music is within the 75 year period and the family of the composers are pressing the case!

Just don't pay the invoice claim that the royalties money went to pay their last rescue package.

Funny, I thought "Happy Birthday" was out of Copyright, about 1980's

You'd think the BBC could produce their own Olympics music and then the Royalties would come home, eh?

Until they get Sir Paul involved, then nobody will want it!
