Thread: My home cinema - nearly finished.

This is as good as I can do without spending signifcantly more cash.
The projector is a mitsubishi xl5u - very bright xga res lcd projector.
Front pair of tannoy m3 driven by thier own old but very hi fi mono power amps with ultrs short speaker cables.
No middle front speaker - vocals are good so no need.
No sub - the bass really is deep and tight.
Rear pair are Gale 4040 driven by the s sound amp.
Surround preamp / amp is a huge sherwood thing that was £500 new.
Screen is 1 to 1 gain ( bright projector ) and cost £130.

All video connections by component.
All audio connections with decent cables.

A few tweaks still to do. Some black velvet curtains to go up to stop light slap.

If I had the cash I would think about a better bespoke mount for projector and maybe another pair of tannoy m3 speakers so the rears match the front and another musical fidelity power amp but run in stereo mode for matched rear amplification. The dvd player really is temporary too - £23.95 from tesco - I am sure it is the weakest link - lols.

Trust me - if you have the room ( it owns the room totally ) this really is the only way to watch films.

Looks good! - You're gonna be soooo disappointed when friends invite you round to watch a film on their new 40" plasma.
Viewing lesser mortals TVs hurts yer eyes once you've experienced head traumas and nose bleeds from the big stuff.

Aint that the truth - one of my regualr film friends says he cant watch movies on his plasma anymore.

I am still plucking up the courage to watch Saving Privte Ryan - that truamatised me in old fashioned stereso on 32 inches...

There's so many great films that you'll experience with new vigour, just like the 1st time you wear stereo headphones to hear your CDs.
I don't watch much on big TV, I keep it for specials, otherwise the explosive sensations become minimised.

For sure - as you can see from the film watched thread I am gorging.

If you keep it up ........... you'll become disenchanted and resort to the ultimate contrast. A B&W portable with a walk up remote.
One day, you'll find them cute

Funny you should say that - I do have a soft spot for retro TVs - that is televsions....
