Default DV-IN enabled?

Anyone can explain me why some dv camcorders assembled in European Union have their DV-IN disabled?

Yeah, I can!

There is an EU tax law that makes them a lot cheaper to buy if the DV-IN is disabled. Simple as that.

I understand they they are all easily 'enabled' though. Some sort of wodget you can buy.
