Yup, bit of a nuisance this one. I think your choices are buy rather expensive multi coverter video deck at around £350. Or use a company like the one below,

well, just as a final post, if anyone else is interested, i've found the convertor that is looking perfect. it converts both ways has a very large field conversion memory and is very well priced.
