Hey peoples...

Im like alot of other people... join coz im having issues with something...

I have been trying to export a vid to DV recorder. When i watch the video on the PC its mint and no problems. Its when i go to export it it is smooth when crossfading the titles in but then gets shaky.

The titles are on .psd slides and now on .JPG's...

anyone have a solution to this?

Can you advise of the hardware and software you are using to achieve this. Coupel of things worth checking,

1. Make sure that your export video is DV Type 1 (Assuming that your camera is same - most are).

2. Exporting a video to DV Camera is a system intensive thing. Your system will use a lot of resources and temporary files for this. If you have the option in your software to set your temp files to a dedicated video drive then do this.

3. Because export to DV is system intensive, then it is necessary (Particularly if you only have one drive) to keep your hard drive defragged.

well im using MSP 6.5 and 1.33 GHZ with 512mb ram... so no issues there

this problem only really occurs when the titles are displayed... there white with text and a watermark type background.

I export using a stand alon HDD also.

The titles are only for the first 15-20 secs and after that its fine...

could it be something to do with the titles? like colours i have used?

Use Media Studio myself.

The first thing to note is how MSPro handles JPegs. It will simply stretch them to fit the screen. Therefore if the original Jpeg is the same size as the video screen (720x576 PAL) then there is less compression to be done later.

There is a greater chance of jerkiness (frame drops?) when using Jpegs because the software has to encode this. Doesn't have to for the rest of your movie if this was originally captured in AVI.

Therfore I'd still be tempted to defrag both your drives.

oks.. defrag is in the books for tongiht...

i still dont get it... i used .psd's also and the same thing happened... it will transition fine into it, holds there and then goes wavy... this only happens towards the start of the video too...

the titles at the end are fine... :|

Can you let me know what sort of transitions you are using on these. Straight crossfade to a moving image after the titles? etc

Tried the JPegs that you kindly posted.

Guess what, no problems whatsoever. Smooth transitions with standard crossfades.

How did you get on with the defragmentation? Did that solve the problem?

Would also be worth checking your original movie in Media Player to see if the choppyness is present in this. If it is then you will have to re-create your movie before exporting to camera. Alternatively try printing the timeline to camera (I would delete all preview files before doing this in case the drop put is in one of those).
