Default cine film to digital video

Anyone know how to get cine film converted into digital format?
I know there are firms out there that do it but I've got so much cine it will cost a fortune. I've tried with a converter box which I aim the projector into and via a mirror the image goes into the lens of my DV camcorder, the quality is not great. Is there some dedicated hardware that takes the image directly from the cine film onto a ccd or a device I attach to the lens of the projector which converts and sends the data via firewire to the pc?
