Metal particle tapes to DVD..cannot play

Metal particle tapes to DVD..cannot play

Hello

I have a Canon V65 Hi-8 camera and have noticed that when I put a metal particle tape inside (precorded one from another camcorder) to view or transfer to DVD, all I get is snow bars and a single darker snowbar near the top. I cannot view anything. Normal Hi-8's work. Also when I put in a new metal particle tape and record, all works well with playback.

Could this be that it was recorded on another camera so wont play on this? I was told to get a Sony Hi-8 which should play with no problem.

Apreciate some advice.
