Default Sony Connection drama

I have been trying to connect my Sony DCR-pc1E to my computer via firewire without much luck. The puter does not recognise the camera and I can't find a driver for it anywhere (the cam did not come with software). I've used all the search engines with no result.

Where too from here? Are there any other options that would be compatible or have I wasted my money?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers
S

Can you advise what operating system you are using?

At the moment the only thing I can suggest is,

Did you have the Camera connected to the Firewire card as you installed it? If so then it is likely that the drivers were not installed properly. When using any windows operating system, it is extremely important that you install the firewire card (and drivers) before connecting the camera.

If your OS is Windows XP then once the camera is connected to the correctly installed firewire card, the Computer should recognise it immediately. This can be verified by double clicking on 'My Computer' (or whatever your machine is called). Your camera should appear under Scanners and Cameras as 'Sony DV Camcorder'.

Let me know more about your installation.

Thanks

I should also have added,

Once your camera is connected to the (correctly installed) firewire card, make sure that you then set the power switch to Play (or VCR).

Thanks for your reply. I'm running 98 SE and I installed the firewire card and the camera as you advised. Still no result. It's definately a driver problem. I'll go through the web again but I am not hopefull. I'll try Sony support too.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Cheers
