0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | ADVC110 plus VCR with TBC - vs -ADVC300 with basic VCR ?
Hi all,
I'm about to buy an ADVC110, but in surfing around I've read that video without time base correction can be jittery.
My VCR is a 1989 Mitsubishi BS-11. Its a bullet proof bit of kit that still works well but it certainly has not got TBC on it.
whats the best approach....
1. get a new VCR - with TBC (although i read this has no benefit if playing tapes that were not recorded using a TBC VCR). The problem is I'll never use the VCR once ive converted to DVD - but maybe there's a second hand market for these VCR's?
2. get the ADVC300 instead of the ADVC110 in the hope that will clean up any jitters during the conversion process.
Any ideas?
cheers
pete

For any situation, a TBC VCR always is the better choice

Hi thanks for the reply.
I cant find any TBC VCR's listed on the UK JVC website or on UK electronics retailers - would I need to look at a specialist retailer to find such a machine?
any ideas?
thanks

Generally there isn't TBC in amateur VCRs... This function is found most of times only in Semipro or Professional VCRs

so it soundslike the best thing I can do is get a standalone TBC unit such as the datavideo TBC-1000, but that would seem to add a lot of expense to the project
would it be cheaper to get a TBC VCR than to spend £250 on a datavideo TBC?
if so do any UK forum users know where I can find such a TBC VCR?
thanks

0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | Hi Quality Capture? [ADVC110 + VCR with TBC] or [ADVC300 ?
Hi all,
Thanks for all the help so far.
I'd still like to get any opinions on my main query which is a questio of buying the right hardware to achieve the best quality capture.
should I....
1. Buy the Canopus ADVC110/ADVC100 Analogue to Digital convertor
AND buy an S-VHS VCR - with TBC
Iive seen two models
JVC HR-S7965EK
PANASONIC NVSV121EBS ( a new model just released)
any thoughts on these?
OR SHOULD I ....
2. Buy the canopus ADVC300 convertor in the hope that the TBC will clean up any jitters (rather than using a VCR with TBC) and just use my current VCR. My current VCR is a 1989 Mitsubishi HSB-11. Its a bullet proof bit of kit that still works well but it certainly has not got TBC on it.
Any help is greatly appreciated
thanks
pete
