    Default Capturing from firewire to USB

    I have a mini DV camera and need to capture the output from this to my new computer. My old computer had firewire input (good old Medion!) but my new machine only has USB2 inputs. I bought a firewire to USB cable on EBAY but the machine says its unrecognised device (so not sure if the lead is faulty or I have been sold something that can't work anyway!). I have tried updating drivers but it can't find any. So how can I transfer my mini DV video from tape in the camera to the computer at top quality? Thanks

    Sorry should have said its windows 7 and i3 pentium machine!

    I would recommend getting a fire wire card.
