trying to use various capture devices (all in wonder 9600) and software for archiving old vhs tapes. sound & picture ok but always black & white. The system is set PAL but nothing seems to work. any guaranteed combinations or is it to do with windows xp

Maybe you are capturing as NTSC from yor PAL source? Just guessing.

I remember playing back NTSC on a PAL only TV and the image was b&w. Check yout capture settings and make sure they say PAL. Just a thought.
