what would you guys preffer and what is the better software they are like both in the same price range and thats what i norrowed it down to

I have not used avid express and have had vegas since v3, so I am a bit biased I suppose.

Avid is not an editor used that commonly on systems that can fit in one room where as vegas was designed from the start to be a 'pro' editing sloution that can run on a real world pc.
