I'm trying to connect my canon mv630i to my PC via Firewire. I have a Unibrain Fireboard Red Firewire card and the cam is connected and turned to playback. XP recognises the cam and starts looking for drivers. No drivers came with the cam, just software which is installed. I've tried Sony Vegas software and windows movie maker, neither find the device.
Is there anything i'm forgetting?
Can my video be captured this way? I know it works on a mac.
Any help is appreciated.

Connecting a camcorder to a PC via firewire does not need drivers I thought. At least none of the camcorders I've ever connected to my PC have. Curious.

Surely, the Firewire card itself requires drivers? What does it say in Device Manager? Does it show a driver installed and the card working correctly?

D'oh! I read it as camera drivers. Oops! Sorry.

Alan: you probably read it right - I just 're-interpreted' it...
