Default Help!! Device no longer enabled.

Hi everyone...first post, but you could quite possibly save me an extraordinary amount of heartache!

I have been using Premiere Pro recently, for editing footage taken on my mini DV cam (Panasonic NV GS120 3ccd). All going well, managed to export for different formats etc e.g. quicktime movie file.
I am using a firewire cable (6 pin to 4 pin)...however since about two days ago I seem to have lost the device (Device offline...)??
I really cannot pinpoint what could be wrong having tried the following:

*reboots/switching cam on and off
*tried a new firewire cable
*tried a different mini dv cam
*tried a different capturing program (windows movie maker)

The device manager see's two working IEEE1394 ports also...

I am really at a loss. I have Windows XP SP2 and was clutching at driver issues?...however as I mentioned above, this has been working fine for some time previously.
I'm seriously consdering going down the Mac route...but for now I need footage for a client by tomorrow!!!

Any advice would be massively appreciated.

Many thanks,
soma

I think I may have cracked the problem...have tried the camera I have borrowed into another firewire port (on the front of the PC - didn't know I had one there till looked properly!) - it works...but not in the original firewire port and my camera works in neither. There was a few storms around these parts during the week...I think that this has knocked out both the original f/wire port on the PC and the f/wire port on the camera...ouch.

Tricky job to get the Panasonic mini DV f/wire port fixed?

Cheers,
soma
