I have a Sony DCR-DVD505 handycam. How can I go about editing video off of the mini dvd's? I don't have firewire but I want to be able to edit video I take. Is there a way to finalize a DVD-RW and rip it to my pc and then work with it? What software would I need and what else do I need to do to work with the files?

Whatever one is good. I'm really not a hardcore video editor but I do want to have some bells and whistles on board in case I want to get creative.

Assuming the cam makes .vobs you couls use vegas, but I am sure some other editors can do vobs too.
