Default Vegas Video 6.0d Freezes when Capturing HD video (Sony Hc-1)

I just purchased a computer recently expressly for being able to edit HD video. (AMD FX60 processor, 4 gig RAM) I've been having problems with Vegas Video. It worked fine on my old Intel chip computer but it seems that this AMD based computer is having problems. I cannot "capture" HD video from my HC-1 camera. The program recognizes my camera and I can control the FF and RW function but when I hit play or the red capture button the program freezes. I've have tried re-installing the program several times. I have updated the program. I have updated my video card. I have updated to SP2 as well as all current Windows XP updates. I really don't know if this is an AMD chip compatibility issue or firewire problem. My IEEE link does recognize the camcorder so I don't think it's IEEE link related. Although, I have another friend who has an AMD chip (not an FX60) and it works on his computer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't have any probs with Vegas, but I was just doing analog caps, not HD. Googling showed me several (undated) hits which talked about having to use a DeckLink card...

has a lengthy setup guide (with pretty pichurs) from a big fan of Vegas, you might find some tips there.

i have same problem, but i have the sony HC3 hi def.

Im sure its iee related, i have a asus, with on board Fire Wire.

I have ordered a PCI fire wire card, and it will arrive in the next day, so i then see if its the On board Firewire from motherboard is to blame.

The windows XP drivers for the on board Firewire are very old, and have not found any updated ones.

So this is why im trying the PCI Capture card route.

Default Vegas freezes

I tried installing an internal firewire card this morning and it still freezes. Not a belkin but another brand. I don't know if it makes a difference. My last hope is to purchase a belkin and see if it works. I'm out of options. My camcorder is a Sony HC1.
