Default Getting video on my computer from DVD Video Camera

Hi, I have a Panasonic DVD video camera, when I was filiming my DVD I used VR mode, which allows for me to edit my movie. Now what I want to do is edit my movie on my computer. I have finilized the DVD on the camera and it is letting me watch me DVD on my computer but I want to take that video file into an editing program, and when I try to rip the DVD ro AVI or Mpeg format it says there is no IFO file, eventohugh I see one.

Is there anyone that can help me?

What software did the camera come with?

I would think there might be something capable of editing supplied with the camera.

Have you tried to copy the .VOB files from the disc to the PC?

These are the files that hold the video. You could try renaming them to .mpg and importing them into Windows Movie Maker or another editing app.

Hope this helps.

If you are using Premiere Pro or Premiere Elements then change the extension from .vob to .avi and copy all of the files from the DVD into a folder where you can locate them. When you open Premiere and get the .avi file(s) in, export them again so everything is hunky dory (Premiere can be very 'touchy' with certain kinds of files) and them close the app down and reimport the new .avi file(s).

And one other thing, right mouse click on the files and in the Properties to make sure the 'Read Only' option is unticked.
