Hi Guy's and girl's. I'm a newbie here so pls bear with me.
Video cam Sony DCR-HC90E pal
Software Cyberlink Power Director 4
I-link to fire wire
Htt 3 GHz, 160 gig, 1 gig ram ,Blaster Audigy 2, 6600 gt Graps,

When the programme was first installed the burning was clear as a bell, I could burn DVD's clear a crystal. Then suddenly The DVD’s became a little bit out of focus and white's dot's started to appear on movement. At the time I Had about 80 gig of video stored on C: So I deleted it :( but the problem still happen. Sometime's it's not as bad as other time's but its bad enough to ruin the end result. Another thing is when I make a copy of a home DVD that has been affected it cleans the with dots up some on the new copy?
I have tried Nero 3 and this problem has not occurred. It just power director 4. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it too many time's to count and ive gone out and got me another burner it still happens. I’ve emailed cyber link ive talked to the shop's in town really im at a lost of what to do. After reading some thread's im thinking could it be my hard drive running out of steam?

Hi Steve

I don't know what the white dots are, but are they big or small and how much of the screen do they cover? Are they visible all the way through your videos or just at certain parts? I take it you captured from the camera via firewire and onto the computer? Did the tape playback alright on the camera or when you connect it directly to a TV or VCR? Did you change any of the settings in your capture software and is the display on the monitor screen alright?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Well they are little white dot's that seem to be located around the edges of moving objects e.g. somebody walking and on the edge of there jeans small white dots appear /disappear (abit like a trail) this seams’ to be visible all over the DVD's. The tapes play just fine on the TV when played via the handy cam. I have played with some settings on in the software but feel this is not the reason for the trouble as it’s pretty simple and I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the power director 4 programmes a lot of time now.
Have checked codec’s thinking it’s using C:\windows\system32\divx.dll Ver 5.2.1
Regard’s Steve

It may or may not be related, but Divx encodes "progressively" and not interlaced, try a different codec for your encoding i.e. MPEG2.
