For the past few hours I've been trying to find out what is wrong with my camera. Only massage that I'm getting when I try to capture the video file from my camera (Sony DCR HC42) is "Cant activate recorder. Try resetting camera" , now I'm working with ADOBE Premiere 2, meanwhile I tryied using 2 other programs and same result. This means there is no problem with the software. I also tried to disconect the cables-no results. I'm new in video editing but first 2 home videos that I captured on computer (from SONY DCR HC42) and burned on DVDs worked fine, I really don't know what is going now?!!

You probably know this already, but you have to set your camcorder into VCR mode rather than Camera mode, otherwise Prem can't instruct the machine to start/stop playback - its caught me a few times !?
