Default Final Cut Pro 5 : Exporting

Well i have created a video using some older footage that i have which was shot with a sony dcr - trv530 which tapes high 8 tapes. when i exported the video for the web using quicktime, the video seemed to be very pixelated. Im guessing that my sequence settings are incorrect. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
