| | Help! Split/edit xvid/avi files....easily???
Ok so I've gone all over and downloaded SO many different programs in an attempt to find one to do just one simple thing. I need to cut out and get smaller clips from a 45 minute long .avi video file I have of a tv show. I just want to make small clips from the ep to put on my site....
....Solveig doesn't load the file, nor does AVI Splitter....when I try to load the file on most splitters it comes back with "cannot load needs xvid codec" blah blah.
....and vdubmod (?) is just too damn confusing for a beginner like me.
I just want a simple time-line type of editor or splitter that allows you to work with a large .avi file without having to download codecs or go into great extremes and video compression blah blah blah. I don't understand all that codec stuff....if there an all inclusive easy program out there that is pure and simple where I can ACTUALLY load this high-def xvid/avi episode and extract small clips from it?
PLEASE, for the love of all things good and holy....I've been trying to do this for months and have downloaded so many programs and none work. I'm losing my sanity and patience. And if no such program exists then I'd at least like to know to stop friggin trying. THANK you to anyone who is willing to help.

Well, I'm an absolute novice myself (I wrote my first post here yesterday), but I think you can do that simply in Microsoft Windows Movie Maker, the program I'm currently learning. I've just split a couple of AVI files myself, a one click operation.
If you have Windows, you should have the program available already, typically at C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe
or download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...r/default.mspx
